What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a Head of Year who is passionate about the personal development and progress of young people. This is an opportunity for an exceptional existing, or aspiring Head of Year to make a significant contribution to the leadership and development of a year group.

Our aims are rooted in the intent that all our students will be positive in their attitudes to learning and will take responsibility for maintaining a safe and kind climate in School. Student behaviour reflects the high standards our staff have because students believe that we have their success at the heart of all our expectations.

The Head of Year will work with the Head of Sixth Form and the wider community to provide professional leadership, vision and direction for the Sixth Form to ensure all students are prepared for the next phase of their lives, post 18. The Head of Year will establish a culture that promotes excellence, equality and high expectations for all and will work to ensure the schools values are met and upheld, and that all individuals are safeguarded.

We would welcome applications from colleagues with a range of teaching specialisms, in particular the ability to teach History, RS, Psychology or Business Studies would be an advantage.

What the school offers its staff

Our values underpin our“Waingels Ready”expectations that we have for everyone within the Waingels community. These expectations form the basis of everything we do, and everything we believe in as a school and as a community.

We are very pleased with our recent Ofsted feedback (June 2023) and we “continue to be a good school” Ofsted noted that:

- “Pupils enjoy being part of the inclusive community that is Waingels”

- “Sixth form students appreciate the wide range of subjects available and the support they receive. They achieve very well and are well prepared for their next steps”

- “The school is a kind, caring school…children had been proud and fortunate to attend”

- “Leaders, including governors, value the work of all staff. Staff are positive about the school. They appreciate how leaders take their workload and their well-being into consideration.”

If you feel your values and ethos align with ours, this is an exciting opportunity for you! We are looking for someone with energy and vision that is ambitious for themselves and the young people of the school. You will have a growth mindset and believe in offering dynamic Maths learning across the Key Stages.

Working with us offers you the opportunity to;

  • Join a positive school where effort and success is celebrated
  • Engage in excellent and personalised professional development opportunities
  • Have the support of a dynamic leadership team to ‘take risks’ in a supportive environment

So, if…

-you have a passion for teaching and learning…
