Brompton and Sawdon Community Primary School is a special and unique place to learn. Together, we all aspire to fulfil our true potential and follow our dreams. We aim to inspire, with high quality teaching, learning and experiences in and beyond the classroom. As a school, we are all learners – we recognise the challenges and barriers that can be faced. By building independence, resilience, an ability to try new things, a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in all we do – we will all be ‘Ready to Fly’.

Set in the rural, idyllic village of Brompton-by-Sawdon, the school is seen as an extension of local families and communities and prides itself in being able to offer more than just ‘schooling’. Being part of the ‘Brompton Family’ means you will be part of a forward thinking, evolving, individual school. Staff are supported by a wealth of different experience between themselves and a hands-on Governing Body and Volunteer/Friends groups.
Being part of such a unique setting will not suit everyone. This is more than just a job.

You will be required to be flexible in your approach, take ownership of fresh thinking and look to continually seek improvements throughout the school, in order to enhance everything we do for the children, ourselves and our community. In return, you will be fully supported, given space to breathe, and be recognised as an individual within an amazing team. You will also benefit from a wealth of different experience between the staff and governors. You will become part of a very special ‘family’.

Our opportunity
We are looking to appoint a teaching professional to join us as our KS2 Teacher. This is our Year 4/5/6 mixed class of 31 children with a full time TA support who are a delight to teach! You will also be supported by the teaching headteacher for up to 50% of the week, which will be ideal for those new to teaching or new to mixed-aged classes.

We are looking for:

• A professional who has an engaging and dynamic style of teaching which fosters independence and resilience and inspires children to follow their interests and ambitions.
• Someone who has the drive and ambition to make sure our children achieve their very best, and has a proven record of raising standards for all children
• A teacher with a flair and passion for primary education who will embrace working and teaching within our ‘family’ – and bring new ideas and practices to engage both the children and the staff.
• An individual who will truly add value to the whole school and allow themselves to think outside of the box.
• Someone who is flexible within their approach and can engage with a mixed aged & ability classroom.
• An individual that can work well on their own, but know when to ask for help and seek guidance openly.
• Someone who can take the initiative to explore new ideas and deliver a complete package to inspire the team and the children.

We can offer you:

• Full support from a professional team, that is more than just ‘teachers’, including strong support from our teaching headteacher, who will support up to 50% of the teaching in the class alongside the successful candidate.
• For NQTs and those new to teaching – a robust mentoring programme delivered by close work with the headteacher, including support with teaching, planning and assessment.
• The ability to put plans in place quickly, and make a real ‘mark’ with speed.
• Autonomy balanced with support and encouragement.
• An opportunity to really make a difference and be recognised for your efforts.
• The opportunity to develop quickly in multiple roles – in a small school, you ‘wear many hats’ and can progress quickly in your career.
• Professional training in order to be the best that you can be.
• A ‘family’/’team’ approach in all that we do, to ensure that everything falls under the core value of ‘’FOR THE CHILDREN’’.
