KS2 Teaching Assistant job summary

Key Responsibilities

Support high-quality teaching and learning across Years 5 and 6.

Deliver small group and one-to-one intervention sessions to accelerate progress, particularly in reading, writing, and maths.

Work closely with class teachers to provide targeted support and ensure lessons are inclusive and engaging.

Contribute to the ongoing development of pupils’ independence and readiness for transition to Year 7.

Use assessment information to support pupil progress and adapt support as needed.

Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents to enhance learning outcomes.

About You

You have experience working in both Year 5 and Year 6, with a clear understanding of the KS2 curriculum.

You understand the importance of lower KS2 foundations and how to build upon them effectively.

You are skilled in delivering reading intervention and can confidently support pupils in writing and maths.

You are organised, proactive, and committed to supporting the academic and personal development of all pupils.

You are a strong team player who values collaboration and continuous improvement.
