Lead Cover Supervisor job summary

As a lead cover supervisor you will be responsible for ensuring that students have a high-quality learning experience when their usual teacher is away from school.

You will manage the cover requirements to ensure that students learning is uninterrupted by staff absence, you will also manage classroom behaviour to ensure pupils stay on task and facilitate the activities that have been designed by teaching staff to ensure that students complete the work in an effective learning environment.

This role offers you the chance to step in and lead lessons in the absence of the regular teacher for KS3 and KS4 students. You’ll also have the opportunity to make a broader contribution across the Academy.

This is a permanent, part time, role, working for 14.5 hours per week/two days (Thursday and Friday), term time only.

You will:

  • Manage the cover requirements ensuring all lessons are covered as appropriate.
  • Supervise the students in KS3 and KS4 working on pre-set learning activities in the absence of a teacher.
