About this Role
Are you an organised and proactive individual with a passion for supporting teaching and learning? Northallerton School is seeking a Lead Cover Supervisor to manage and oversee our cover supervision team, ensuring high-quality classroom supervision during teacher absence.
This role will also provide short term cover for absent teaching staff, allocating pre-prepared work, keeping pupils on task and managing the behaviour of pupils during class. The role does not involve planning, preparing, delivering lessons or assessing and reporting on the development progress and attainment of pupils.
About the Role
As Lead Cover Supervisor, you will:
- Coordinate daily cover arrangements and liaise with senior leaders regarding staffing needs.
- Supervise lessons and support students during staff absence, delivering pre-prepared materials and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Line manage cover supervisors, providing induction, training, and ongoing support.
- Ensure accurate records of cover arrangements and liaise with supply agencies when required.
- Assist with classroom management and ensure a positive learning environment.
- Contribute to whole-school activities such as exam invigilation.
What We’re Looking For
- Experienced cover supervisor
- Experience working with pupils in an educational setting.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively and uphold school policies.
- Good ICT skills and flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances in a school setting.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Must be available to start work at 7.45am.

Hours of Work: 37 Hours Per Week, Term Time Only, including Training Days (39 Weeks Per Year)
Working Pattern: Monday-Thursday: 7.45am - 4.00pm; Friday: 7.45am - 3.30pm (45 minute lunch break each day)Position Type: Permanent
