Lead Practitioner (Head of Department): Science job summary

As Lead Practitioner and Head of Science, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the vision, strategy, and delivery of science education across the department. You will lead by example, modelling outstanding classroom practice and inspiring colleagues to continually raise standards of teaching and learning.

Key aspects of the role include:

Strategic Leadership - Driving the development of a forward-thinking science curriculum that engages, challenges, and excites students.

Teaching Excellence - Demonstrating high-quality pedagogy and supporting staff to embed best practice across all key stages.

Staff Development - Coaching, mentoring, and guiding teachers to enhance their professional growth and confidence.

Student Outcomes - Ensuring progress and attainment are consistently high, with a focus on closing gaps and promoting inclusivity.

Innovation & Collaboration - Leading initiatives that integrate STEM opportunities, cross-curricular projects, and partnerships with external organisations.

Operational Management - Overseeing departmental resources, assessment strategies, and quality assurance processes to maintain high standards.
