The Role

As Lead Practitioner in Mathematics, you will play a pivotal role in raising standards and improving outcomes across the department and wider school community.

You will:

  • Model outstanding teaching and learning, inspiring colleagues and students alike.
  • Lead on pedagogy, curriculum development, and assessment strategies within Mathematics.
  • Coach and mentor teachers to develop practice, confidence, and impact in the classroom.
  • Disseminate evidence-informed approaches to teaching and learning across the Academy.
  • Drive innovation in the use of data, technology, and resources to enhance student outcomes.
  • Contribute to trust-wide networks and projects to share best practice and develop consistent approaches to Maths education.

This is a key leadership role that offers both challenge and opportunity — ideal for an exceptional classroom practitioner looking to extend their influence and make a measurable impact on teaching and learning across the school.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has Qualified Teacher Status and a degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject.
  • Is an outstanding classroom practitioner with a proven track record of securing excellent outcomes.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of curriculum and assessment design in Maths.
  • Has experience in coaching or mentoring colleagues to improve teaching practice.
  • Is committed to research-informed approaches to pedagogy and continual professional learning.
  • Is able to inspire trust, foster collaboration, and drive sustained improvement.
  • Shares our belief that every student deserves an excellent education and that every colleague can achieve excellence through support, reflection, and development.
