Lead Practitioner (Teaching & Learning - Curriculum-Secondary Specialism) job summary

Working with the Director of Education, the post holder will be responsible for taking a lead role in improving the standards of teaching and learning in all Trust secondary schools, ensuring these are consistently high. The role will involve cross-phase work and include a view to primary standards but will have a particular focus on secondary provision. The post holder will also lead on curriculum developments across the Trust.

School Support

  • Supporting Head Teachers in activities linked to school improvement including lesson observations, learning walks, book scrutiny etc.
  • Contribute to whole staff development, including running twilight INSET sessions.
  • Develop and support teaching staff through modelling lessons, joint planning and assessment as well as teaching and learning and curriculum initiatives across all schools within the Trust.
  • Lead and contribute to school reviews.
  • Lead and contribute to teaching and learning and curriculum working parties.
  • Lead identified initiatives which focus on raising standards across the Trust.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with the Trust Head Teachers to sustain a culture of commitment to school improvement.
  • Facilitate regular and open communication to share good practice and innovation between Trust schools.

  • Develop and support the implementation of Cambrian Learning Trust policies and practices, including a teaching and learning strategy.

  • Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
  • Be aware of and support difference and ensure equal opportunities for all.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the Trust.
  • Develop constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals.
  • Share expertise and skills with others.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required,
  • Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
  • Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others.
