Lead Science Technician job summary
Are you passionate about science and ready to take the lead in a thriving secondary school environment? Orion Coopers is looking for a Lead Science Technician who can bring energy, precision, and leadership to our dynamic science department. This is more than just a technical role—it’s a chance to shape the learning experience of young minds and support a team committed to excellence.
As Lead Science Technician, you’ll be the backbone of practical science delivery. You’ll oversee the preparation of experiments, maintain equipment and labs to the highest standards, and ensure health and safety protocols are not just met but championed. You’ll also supervise another technician, guiding their development and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. From managing stock and budgets to supporting lessons and providing first aid, your role will be central to the success of the department.
We’re looking for someone with a strong science background, ideally with a degree or equivalent qualification, and experience in either a lab or educational setting. You’ll need to be highly organised, proactive, and confident working both independently and as part of a team. Communication skills, attention to detail, and a calm, flexible approach are essential—especially when working with students and staff across the school.
This is a permanent position, working 37 hours a week across 40 weeks of the year, with a competitive salary and access to excellent professional development. If you’re ready to make a real impact in a school that values trust, kindness, and endeavour, we’d love to hear from you. Join us at Orion Coopers and help us transform lives through science.
