Lead Teacher of Engineering job summary

St Mary’s College is seeking to appoint a Lead Teacher of Engineering.

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed, enthusiastic and driven teacher to lead and deliver Engineering across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.

We are looking for a specialist with strong subject expertise who is an exceptional classroom practitioner, able to inspire curiosity, engage students in practical and theoretical learning, and cultivate a genuine enthusiasm for engineering and the wider STEM disciplines.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the planning, development and delivery of the Engineering curriculum at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5
  • Teach highly intentional lessons that engage, challenge and inspire students
  • Develop a coherent and ambitious curriculum that builds strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills
  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to ensure excellent outcomes
  • Promote a passion for engineering and STEM across the school
  • Support students in progressing to further education, apprenticeships and careers in engineering
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold excellent subject knowledge in Engineering or be willing to upskill quickly.
  • Be an exceptional classroom practitioner with a track record of strong student outcomes
  • Demonstrate the ability to engage and enthuse students about engineering
  • Have experience teaching Key Stage 4 and/or Key Stage 5
  • Be committed, enthusiastic and driven, with a passion for inspiring young people
  • Be keen to contribute to the continued success of a high-performing school and sixth form
