What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, effective and enthusiastic specialist in Science to join us at this highly successful, heavily over-subscribed school which is firmly established as one of the highest performing secondary schools in the region (and in the top 10% of schools nationally). We gained ‘Good’ in our 2018 Ofsted inspection and as part of the Local Authority’s quality assurance strategy, we have gained Category 1 status, which is the highest category of school performance, for four years running.
Job Purpose:
- To lead Chemistry within the Science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, a good environment for learning and the well-being of staff and students.
- To work with the Core Subject Leader to lead the planning and delivering the subject development plan focusing on a specified subject.
- To ensure that Science outcomes show very good progress towards aspirational academy targets.
- To contribute towards and coordinate provision for enhancing the wider curriculum experience in Science.
- To deputise for the Core Subject Leader of Science in their absence, taking on the leadership and management of Science.
