What skills and experience we're looking for

About You:

Thistley Hough Academy is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and highly motivated Teacher of Science to join our dedicated secondary school team from January 2026. You will have a genuine passion for teaching Science and the versatility to deliver engaging lessons across the wider Science curriculum, including physics, chemistry and biology. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher looking to broaden their subject expertise in a supportive and forward-thinking school environment. You will be a confident communicator, committed to delivering outstanding teaching and learning, with a proactive approach to curriculum planning, classroom management, and student progress. A strong focus on Health & Safety, creativity in lesson design, and a collaborative, student-centred mindset are essential to inspire and support learners across Key Stage 3.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong knowledge of the KS3 Science curriculum, with the ability to design and implement engaging, differentiated schemes of work that lay firm foundations for GCSE success.
  • Proven track record of excellent classroom practice, demonstrating high expectations and the ability to raise attainment and enthusiasm for science across all Key Stage 3 year groups.
  • Leadership experience or clear leadership potential, including the ability to support and develop colleagues through coaching, mentoring, or leading CPD.
  • Commitment to curriculum development and assessment, ensuring progress is accurately tracked and interventions are purposeful and effective.
