Leading Practitioner: Mathematics job summary

We are currently seeking a dynamic and highly effective Leading Practitioner of Mathematics who can drive excellence in teaching and learning across the department and wider school. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of impact within the classroom and will be committed to improving outcomes for all students through high-quality, evidence-informed practice.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the extended leadership team at Hilbre High School and play a key role in shaping the quality of Mathematics education across all Key Stages. You will work closely with Senior Leaders and the Maths Department to develop and embed consistently strong teaching, support curriculum development and lead on staff development through coaching and CPD.

Mathematics is a core subject at the heart of the curriculum and plays a vital role in students’ future success. The Department is well-established, and this role offers the opportunity to further strengthen outcomes, teaching consistency and student engagement across all year groups.

Key aspects of the role include:

Leading high-quality teaching and learning in Mathematics

Supporting the design and delivery of a coherent, ambitious Maths curriculum

Coaching and mentoring staff to improve classroom practice

Developing effective assessment, feedback and intervention strategies

Modelling excellent teaching through a reduced timetable

Contributing to whole-school teaching and learning priorities
