Learning and Behaviour Mentor job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and resilient Level 2 Learning and Behaviour Mentor with excellent interpersonal skills to work with our students across both our Knighton Fields and Aylestone Meadows site. This is a permanent post working 32.5 hours per week for 39 weeks per year.
You will need to be committed to removing barriers to learning for students, covering all age ranges and abilities. Experience of using Makaton, PEC’s and sensory approaches would be desirable. .Access to a vehicle would also be desirable as you will be conducting home visits.
Successful applicants will have the following qualities:
- Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills, alongside the ability to communicate effectively with a range of professionals and parents.
- Be prepared to deal with students who are at crisis point, which will include the use of Team Teach
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
- Ability to assist class teachers and T.A.’s to implement behaviour strategies for individual students
- Be able to work well as part of a busy team
- Good timekeeping and attendance
- Ability to maintain a calm and constructive approach in difficult situations
- Be able to work closely with parents, both in an advisory and supportive capacity
Ellesmere College is a large, aspirational special school located in the City of Leicester
Ellesmere College provides education for up to 426 children and young people, from 4 to 19 years, with a range of moderate to complex learning difficulties.
This is a very exciting time for Ellesmere College as we continue to expand from 1 site to 3 sites. We have now settled into our Knighton Fields Centre and our Post-16 provision plans are in place for a new site. These additional sites provide bespoke educational opportunities for our Post-16 students and our students with the most complex needs, in particular those with communication and interaction difficulties including complex autism.
