What skills and experience we're looking for

Role:Learning Manager

Academy:Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth

Start Date:September 2025

Salary (Actual Salary):£26,590 to £27,878

Working Pattern:37 Hours Per Week, Monday to Friday, Term Time + 15 days

Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth is a community school in the heart of Stockton. It is part of OGAT, a Multi Academy Trust in the north of England – and we are looking for an outstanding candidate to help us improve standards.

With a proud tradition of serving the community of Stockton-on-Tees, Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth is a medium-sized school with a big heart. We are part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, one of the highest performing trusts in the country.

Our vision is to put students first in order to raise standards and transform lives. To make this happen, we innovate constantly, including a curriculum that is designed to enable personalised learning in depth and with breadth. We ensure that additional teaching time and resources are provided to support students to leave with a solid foundation of good and better grades.

With a holistic view of education, we value vocational, practical, creative and academic talent equally and focus on building transferable skills that result in real-world success. We are also an ‘enhanced mainstream school’ providing an outstanding education for young people with physical and/or sensory needs. We aim to instil British Values: a passion for democratic participation, individual liberty, mutual respect, and difference and diversity, backed by a commitment to taking responsibility for one’s own conduct and progress. By empowering students to take ownership of their learning, we can create tomorrow’s leaders as well as responsible, caring and engaging citizens.

To be successful as a Learning Manager you must have a real interest in the issues faced by our students. You will be required to support learning through the use of data, strategic intervention and monitoring in order to maximise student attainment. You will monitor all students in the year group, both academically and behaviourally. You will work closely with the Inclusion Co-ordinator, our Transporter, Infinity and PDC provision and the Vice Principal (Deep Support Lead) to develop intervention strategies and resolve issues which may present a barrier to learning. Excellent communication and listening skills are essential for this post, and you will be required to attend Safeguarding Case Conferences on behalf of the school and provide feedback to the delegated person as necessary.

The successful candidate must be extremely well organised, have the ability to prioritise work and ensure that strict deadlines are met. The ability to work on your own initiative and be able to lead by example are essential. You will be required to deal with students, parents and outside agencies in a professional, prompt and confidential manner.

If you have any questions or queries regarding the role please contact Abbey Davies, HR Assistant at a.davies@bishopsgarth.outwood.com.
