Learning Mentor job summary
The school requires a Learning Mentor to support pupils who are on the Pupil Premium List and/or are at risk of underachievement through missing periods of education, a lack of engagement in learning and/or low aspirations. The post holder will work to develop engagement and improve the attendance and progress of identified pupils.
The Learning Mentor will provide support and guidance to pupils through the key tasks outlined below:
• Providing support and guidance to pupils by identifying and supporting the removal of barriers to learning in order to promote effective participation and, as appropriate, provide feedback to pastoral and subject staff.
• Coordinating and leading opportunities for an ‘Aspirations programme’ including visits to – and from - employers, FE and HE institutions.
• Coordinating and leading the delivery of an effective mentoring programme, including group sessions, and, where appropriate, 1:1 sessions, to support pupils’ progression and action planning.
• Coordinating and leading catch-up learning programmes for identified pupils. This will include liaison with their teachers and small group support sessions.
• Liaison with key staff in school, including teachers, Heads of Year and pastoral staff to support identified pupils.
• Provision of mentoring to support attendance for identified pupils.
Some experience of mentoring pupils would be an advantage. Confidentiality and using own initiative essential.
Hours of work: 8.40am – 3.10pm three days per week & 9.30am – 4.00pm two days per week, Monday – Friday, term time only.
(There is a potential for a second post on lesser hours – this will be discussed with shortlisted candidates at interview)
Salary Scale Grade F point 6 – 12 £19,698 – £22,183 pro rata. Actual salary per annum is £13,478.15 - £15,178.49.

Cirencester Kingshill School, opened in 1976, as a purpose built 11-16 co-educational comprehensive. It is situated on the south east side of Cirencester approximately one mile from the centre, on a spacious site bordering open countryside. The school became an Academy in August 2011.
