Learning Mentor - SEMH and Challenging Behaviour

Grade GR3

32.5 hours per week, term time only

Monday to Friday : 8:30am - 3:45pm

(Includes a 45-minute unpaid lunch break)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to work closely with children who present challenging behaviour and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning, develop positive relationships and build emotional resilience. Working both one-to-one and in small groups, you will help pupils regulate their behaviour, engage positively with learning and make sustained progress.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing targeted support for pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
  • Building trusting, consistent relationships with children who may struggle to engage in school
  • Supporting emotional regulation, social skills and positive behaviour strategies
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and external agencies
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, self-esteem and independence

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with children with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviour
  • Is calm, patient, resilient and able to remain consistent under pressure
  • Demonstrates strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting pupils’ wellbeing
  • Is passionate about making a positive difference to children’s lives
