We are looking for a Learning Mentor for Pastoral Support to join our team here at Medeshamstede!

Job Summary

  • To support the Leadership teams and all colleagues in developing and deploying appropriate strategies for the management and support of all pupils’ welfare and pastoral needs that effectively enables all pupils to positively engage in their day-to-day attendance at school in such a way that promotes their progress and learning.


    This is a fantastic opportunity for a nurturing mentor who wishes to work in a unique environment. The role will expose you to challenging situations involving pupils with significant Special Educational Needs; therefore experience of working with students with Autism would be advantageous. 

About us:

Medeshamstede Academy is an all through Academy for 117 pupils, aged 4 to 16. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for communication and interaction with a diagnosis of Autism as their main presenting need. Pupils may have associated difficulties, within the areas of:

  • Cognition and learning
  • Sensory and physical needs

Most of our pupils live within the City of Peterborough and some are from Cambridgeshire and other neighbouring counties.

Medeshamstede Academy opened in 2012 as a new, purpose-built provision within Greenwood Academies Trust. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care plan with autism as their main presenting need. Our curriculum is broad and relevant; delivered through termly themed imaginative learning projects which support appropriate pre-formal, semi-formal and formal learning pathways towards independent learning. In key stage 4, a range of accreditation is offered from entry level to GCSE to prepare pupils for their next stage of education.
