Salary range: Experience 3, £28,598 FTE

Hours: 39 weeks per year, 37.5 hrs - 8.15am - 4.30pm (45 mins for lunch) - This is flexible for the right candidate

Start date: 5th January 2026

Rugby Free Primary school is an inclusive and friendly school in north Rugby. We opened in 2015 and we are full in all year groups from Reception to year 6.

We welcome children of all abilities and from all backgrounds. We are non-selective, non-denominational and are free for all to attend. We provide a high quality local school with an exciting curriculum and extended enrichment opportunities for our children.

We are looking to extend our team of professionals who bring interest, ideas and enthusiasm to match that of the Trust, Governors and the current Staff. We are seeking a committed Learning Mentor to join our dedicated and kind school team.

The Learning Mentor role is a new position to Rugby Free Primary School. We have a wonderful Inclusion team, comprising of our Inclusion Leader, SENDCo, Family and Child Support Worker and Assistant SENDCo. The Learning Mentor role would sit in this team, a team which works together and provides excellent levels of care and kindness to pupils, staff and families alike.

The position can be shaped by the individual, who is successful, as we have the opportunity to create this role to fit our school. However, as a school we are looking for someone who is very confident in working with pupils with significant behavioural and SEMH challenges, who believes all children can thrive given the right support and fully believes in the relational approach to behavioural management. We would like the successful candidate to work with children on an individual or group basis but also to support in classrooms and model/coach staff members in working with children with barriers to learning. We would also like this candidate to have an interest in creative play and be enthusiastic in setting up a lunchtime provision to encourage creativity, safe risk taking, role play etc using loose parts. This would be a new provision to the school and is something which our pupils need in unstructured times.

The successful candidate would also be trained in the Thrive approach and have the option of becoming a licensed Thrive Practitioner in the future, if interested.

Additional Information & How to Apply For further information please contact the office either through the e-mail below or on 01788 222088. We would very much encourage either a tour of the school with a Senior Leader or a conversation about the role prior to applying as it has many different aspects to it.

We encourage candidates to state their individual interests in their application noting why they feel our school would be the right choice for them in their career.

The successful candidates will be supported by a senior leadership team who have the highest ambition and care for the school, its children and its staff. We will support the successful candidate in their professional development and progression will be fully supported and nurtured.
