Learning Mentor job summary

Do you want to make a real difference working in an established and supportive inclusion team?

Yarnfield Primary School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and qualified Learning Mentor to support the social, emotional and mental health well-being of our wonderful pupils who maybe experiencing difficulties in these areas.

As a Learning Mentor, you must have a working knowledge of SEMH and associated difficulties, child development and methods of setting realistic programmes for disaffected and underachieving children. Your role will include; one to one mentoring and support to improve academic progress and learning, liaising closely with colleagues, families and outside agencies and supporting in the monitoring of behaviour and attendance of the identified groups. You will also be responsible for leading extra-curricular activities to promote pupil engagement and organise and manage breakfast club.

The successful candidate will have proven experience working with young people, ideally from a primary setting. You will also have excellent communication skills with children, parents and professionals and a sound knowledge and understanding of child development, and the issues relating to social exclusions. You must have the ability to work creatively with children and demonstrate a positive working attitude.
