Learning Resource Centre Assistant

Contract: 13 hours a week (must be Monday and Tuesday), term time plus 1 week

Salary: H2 (FTE £24,796-£25,583) Actual Salary £7,451-£7,689

Start Date: January 2026

Responsible To: Learning Resource Centre Manager

We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative and organised individual to work as part of a team in our Learning Resource Centre, providing a full range of promotional and information services to support teaching and learning. This role would suit an individual passionate about promoting and encouraging reading at school and for pleasure to young people and staff. Full training will be provided.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

  • Support teaching and learning with promoting reading across the curriculum

  • Monitor children’s reading engagement both at school and at home.

  • Help support children’s reading ages.

  • Mentor and advise children to choose reading age appropriate texts that inspire and foster the love of reading.

  • Supervise students in the LRC

  • Responsibility for running the LRC on occasions

The successful applicant will have:
  • Experience working in a school setting (preferable)

  • Knowledge of children's and young adult literature

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • Passion for reading and learning
