About us and the role

We are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Learning Resource Manager to lead the strategic development and day-to-day management of the school library at Avanti Fields.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is passionate about reading, research skills and resource development to make a meaningful impact across the whole school.

The successful candidate will play a central role in supporting curriculum delivery, strengthening students’ information literacy and promoting a strong culture of reading for pleasure.

Working collaboratively with subject leaders and teaching staff, you will ensure that high-quality, diverse and accessible resources are available to all learners, while creating a welcoming and inspiring library environment.

What will you do?

  • Lead and manage the school library and learning resources, ensuring they are well organised, inclusive, accessible and effectively promoted across the school.
  • Select, acquire and maintain high-quality print and digital resources that support the national curriculum, equality and diversity, and wider reading for pleasure.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and subject leaders to support curriculum planning, develop information literacy skills and advise on copyright compliance.
  • Promote a strong reading culture by leading initiatives that inspire reading for pleasure and supporting independent learning.
  • Manage the library budget, systems and environment, while supervising and training staff, volunteers and pupil librarians.

  • Knowledge and understanding of library and information skills
  • Knowledge of how ICT can be used to support reading development
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to adapt to very different audiences
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
