Learning Support Assistant job summary

We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant whose principle role is to provide in-classroom support to our students, under the direction of the teacher. The role involves providing both academic support and welfare support. This is a fixed term post, starting ASAP after all pre-employment checks have been completed. We are particularly but not solely interested in applicants who have the ability to support students in Maths, English and Science at Key Stage 4.

The successful candidate should be able to offer excellent communication skills and experience of working with young people would be an advantage. Applicants must have at least a grade C in English, Maths and Science at GCSE.

This position provides excellent preparation for people who are considering careers in teaching and who are looking to gain experience of working with young people, or working in a school setting.

Wood Green Academy is a large 11-19 multicultural comprehensive school set in Wednesbury in the heart of the Black Country. The academy is located about 15km from the centre of Birmingham and has excellent national links by having the M5 and M6 nearby. It is an innovative, creative and forward thinking school held in high regard locally and nationally. The Academy has a long standing reputation for achieving some of the best GCSE and Post 16 results in the local area.
