Learning Support Assistant job summary
Required from 13th April to 17th July 2026.
The role
- Hours for the role will be: 8:25am - 4:15pm two days per week, and 8:25am - 3:15pm three days per week, term-time only
- Ideal role for gaining classroom experience
- Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), assisting with their learning activities, behaviour, language, and emotional needs
- Work under the direction of the SENDCo and Specialist Teachers, and liaise with teachers regarding pupil profiles and progress
- Provide support in the classroom, in small group interventions, and one-to-one
- Build positive, supportive relationships with students
- Promote inclusion, independence, and self-esteem
- Clarify instructions and help students access materials and equipment
- Develop appropriate learning resources
- Contribute to student reviews and maintain home-school links (where appropriate)
- Participate in training and professional development
- Discharge a duty of care to all students in the school.
The ideal candidate
- GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above, or equivalent
- Experience working with students with a range of abilities is desirable but not essential.
