Learning Support Assistant job summary

Required from 13th April to 17th July 2026.

The role

  • Hours for the role will be: 8:25am - 4:15pm two days per week, and 8:25am - 3:15pm three days per week, term-time only
  • Ideal role for gaining classroom experience
  • Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), assisting with their learning activities, behaviour, language, and emotional needs
  • Work under the direction of the SENDCo and Specialist Teachers, and liaise with teachers regarding pupil profiles and progress
  • Provide support in the classroom, in small group interventions, and one-to-one
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with students
  • Promote inclusion, independence, and self-esteem
  • Clarify instructions and help students access materials and equipment
  • Develop appropriate learning resources
  • Contribute to student reviews and maintain home-school links (where appropriate)
  • Participate in training and professional development
  • Discharge a duty of care to all students in the school.

The ideal candidate

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above, or equivalent
  • Experience working with students with a range of abilities is desirable but not essential.
