Learning Support Assistant job summary

We are seeking an empathetic and motivated person to provide support to student with an EHCP. The successful candidate will have an interest in working with children with SEND and a willingness to undergo relevant training. The post is part time working 8:30 - 3:40, Monday to Friday. The post is fixed term to be reviewed annually.

Some responsibilities include

To develop an understanding of the specific needs of the student to be supported.

To establish a rapport and a supportive relationship with the student, promoting high self-esteem, independence and social inclusion.

Provide support based on a detailed knowledge of the student’s personal and physical care needs.

To aid the student to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and individually, inside and outside of the classroom.

To promote high standards of behaviour, responding to incidents in line with the school’s behaviour policy.

To establish acceptance and inclusion of the student in the classroom.

To manage the student as advised by the SENDCO and class teacher.

To promote/reinforce the student’s self-esteem.

To ensure the safety of the student whilst at school.

To carry out any specific duties as outlined in the student's access to learning plan.
