Learning Support Assistant

Location: Challney High School for Boys

Contract Type: Fixed Term, Term time plus five training days

Hours of work: 30 hours per week. The working day will start at 9:30am and finish at 3:30pm.

Salary: L3 - Actual salary starting from £17,670 per annum

Challney High School for Boys is a successful and inclusive school with outstanding facilities, friendly staff and has a supportive environment.

We are looking to appoint an energetic and motivated individual with good literacy and numeracy skills.

Working within our Renaissance department the successful applicant will:

  • Support the teaching and learning of individuals or groups within the classroom and on occasions in withdrawal situations.
  • Contribute to the monitoring, recording and assessment of pupil progress.
  • Contribute to the planning of teaching and learning for the whole class or individuals.
  • Supervise students at break and lunchtimes and in between lessons.
  • Liaise with alternative provisions.
  • Take registers and communicate with home about absence and behaviour.

The ability to use ICT would be an advantage but not essential as hands on training is available.

Purpose of the post

To work with class teachers and colleagues in the support for learning team, in all aspects of teaching and enhance learning opportunities for pupils.
