Learning Support Assistant job summary
Learning Support Assistant
The Chalk Hills Academy is seeking to appoint a part time Learning Support Assistant to help support the teaching and learning of an individual or groups of pupils.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and empathetic candidate who has an understanding of how students learn and how resources can be adapted to match student’s needs. Someone who will contribute to the intellectual and social development of pupils and support their achievement in Literacy and Numeracy and other specific curriculum areas as directed.
We are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant who has the right attitude and will represent our positive ‘can do’ ethos that runs through our Academy.
The successful candidate will have
- Previous experience working with children/young people with special educational needs.
- Experience of working in an educational setting
- GCSE or equivalent including at least grade 4 in English and Maths
- Experience of planning and leading small group teaching/interventions desirable
- Good knowledge of SEN
- An understanding of how pupils learn and how resources can be adapted to match pupils needs
- Good IT skills (with good knowledge of Microsoft applications e.g. word, excel, etc)
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Excellent communication skills
- A professional and empathetic approach to the needs of our pupils
- Team player and the ability to be able to build effective relationships with both colleagues and pupils
- Ability to work using initiative
JOB SPECIFICS
Start date: Asap or following a notice period
Salary: AS 5-7 FTE £25,893-£26,712 Actual pro rata salary £8,704-£8,979
Job Role: Permanent, Part-time, Term-time + Inset days, 39 weeks per annum, 2 days per week, Thursday and Friday 8:20am-4pm
