Learning Support Assistant job summary

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive team at Sir Thomas Fremantle School. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning by providing tailored support both in and out of the classroom. Working closely with teaching staff and the SEND team, you will help to create an environment where all students feel valued, encouraged and empowered to achieve their best.

At Sir Thomas Fremantle School, we are proud of our strong ethos of care and high expectations. You will be part of a dedicated team committed to providing outstanding support for students with a range of additional needs, enabling them to access the curriculum, develop confidence, and reach their full potential in all aspects of school life.

Sir Thomas Fremantle is set in North Buckinghamshire for 11-16 year olds serving the local community. The school is in easy reach of Milton Keynes and Aylesbury. We benefit from great facilities – the school building was only opened in 2017.

We are driven to ensure all our students have an incredible education that inspires and prepares them for the next step in their journey. With 650 students we are able to really get to know each of them and our sense of community is a real strength of our school.

Your professional development is really important to us. We want you to have the skills and training so you can flourish in your role. We care about your wellbeing and we want to work with you to ensure we do all we can to support you.

We would love to show you around our school to meet our wonderful students and to get to know us better. Please contact Kate Duckmanton on kate.duckmanton@sirthomasfremantle.org if you wish to arrange a visit.

Please note that we do not accept CVs - applicants must submit an application form via mynewterm.

STFS is a welcoming and caring school that is oversubscribed and academically successful. Our GCSE results place us firmly as one of the top performing non-selective schools across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. Being a small school, we have a unique opportunity to get to know each of our young people and their families, to develop a genuinely personalised approach to their learning and to offer the very best in academic rigour and pastoral care.

The students at STFS benefit from highly qualified and committed staff who understand the various challenges that young people face. The smaller class sizes and relationships that are deep rooted in mutual respect mean that students at STFS are more than a statistic. They feel valued and are keen to learn. We are committed to providing an environment where learners can learn and teachers can teach.
