We are looking for a passionate and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join Ilminster E-ACT Academy. If you’re committed to helping pupils thrive, love building confidence in young people, and enjoy being part of a supportive team, this is your chance to make a real impact.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with additional learning needs, helping them access and engage in lessons.
  • Work closely with teachers to adapt learning materials and deliver targeted interventions.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports pupil confidence and independence.
  • Assist with behaviour support strategies to maintain a calm and focused classroom.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Contribute to monitoring pupil progress and sharing insights with the wider team.
  • Support whole‑class, small‑group and one‑to‑one learning as required.

Pay range: SCP 5-7 - £14,595.21 - £15,063.02 - FTE: £25,583.00 - £26,403.00 , 24 hours per week, 39 weeks per year - Fixed Term 31.08.2026

Qualifications and Skills:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths—essential for supporting core learning.
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of SEND strategies and a commitment to inclusive practice.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Patience, empathy and resilience, with a genuine passion for helping pupils thrive.
  • Ability to follow teacher direction while also working independently when needed.
