Learning Support Assistant job summary
Lancaster School is special school for up to 130 students aged 14-19 with severe learning difficulties (SLD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).
Some students also have neurological impairments, complex physical and complex medical needs. Over half the students have autism, with some having very complex needs. The school also caters for students with moderate learning difficulties who may need additional social and emotional support before transferring to local colleges at 19.
We are looking to appoint a kind, caring, focused and resilient colleague to join our team. Experience and expertise working with students with severe learning disabilities and autism is ideal, but not essential. We provide the opportunity to learn, grow and get experience, as well as appropriate training.
At Lancaster you will become part of a dedicated team of staff who work tirelessly for the students and who all have high aspirations for each individual student. You will also get to work alongside happy and enthusiastic students who love to learn.
Lancaster belongs to the SEN Trust Southend and works in partnership with the other special schools in Southend.
The post will involve:
- Working under the guidance of the class teacher
- Being a flexible and organised team player
- Being able to use your own initiative
- Working with individuals and groups of students
- Attending to the personal care needs of students
Visits to the school are welcome and encouraged. For more information or to arrange a visit please contact the school office on 01702 342543.
