What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to recruit a full-time LSA / Teaching Assistant for immediate start to support the teaching and learning at Merrow Schools Federation (Infant School).

The federation incorporates Merrow CofE Infant School and Merrow Junior School (formerly known as Bushy Hill). The schools are located 5 minutes apart on the outskirts of Guildford, with staff working primarily at one school only.

The LSA role is rewarding and varied and we are particularly looking for:

  • Flexible and resourceful individuals able to adapt to changing priorities
  • Experienced LSAs with SEN experience

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working with class teachers to deliver excellent teaching and learning
  • Supporting children on a 1:1 or group basis (including children with additional needs)
  • Undertaking lunchtime supervision
  • Supporting assessment and evidencing learning
  • Working with the teacher to create stimulating classroom displays and learning resources
  • Maintaining a safe and positive environment for all learners
  • Creating opportunities for all learners to reach their potential, irrespective of ability

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above
  • Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant
  • A proven ability to work on their own initiative
  • A high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adults
  • The ability to use relevant technology/equipment
  • A positive ‘growth mindset’ attitude
  • A commitment to the happiness, well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school
  • We particular welcome applications from those with experience of working with children with Social & Emotional needs or ASD

CONTRACT DETAILS:

  • The role available is on a Fixed Term contract (to 31 August 2025).
    (LSA roles are reviewed annually and where possible we will aim to extend contracts subject to funding)
  • Days: Monday - Friday
  • Hours: 08.30-15.15 (incl lunchtime supervision) = 31.25 hours per week
  • Weeks: Term Time + 3 Insets (38.6 weeks per year)
  • Salary: Surrey Pay PS3 - FTE £21,269=£21,776 FTE (pay award pending for Apr24)
    (Pro-rata salary = £15720 - £16,386)
