Learning Support Assistant job summary

Are you fun? Are you enthusiastic? Are you creative and imaginative? Are you innovative? Are you a maverick? Do you want to create something as unique and individual as the children of Prestwood Village Schools? Do you want to be the best you can be and show leadership, dedication and vision?

Prestwood Junior School is a great place to learn. We pride ourselves on the community feel between children, staff, parents and all who work with us.

Prestwood Junior School is an academy of the Great Learners Trust, and is federated with Prestwood Infant School and although located in different parts of Prestwood, the two schools work as one, with one Executive Headteacher and staff join together weekly for meetings.

Sitting at the heart of the village, our schools provide a diverse and inclusive education for all, specialising in teaching and treating each child as an individual.

Help us to ‘develop caring, curious, creative and capable life-long learners.’

We are seeking to appoint a flexible, enthusiastic and highly motivated Learning Support Assistant to work in a Year 6 class. You will need to have a good subject matter knowledge of the KS2 curriculum and knowledge and experience of working with children with additional needs including autism, ADHD, and attachment difficulties. You will be joining a strong, supportive and friendly team in our popular and successful Junior school.

Candidates should be sensitive and firm with good behaviour management, and have high expectations of pupils and themselves and to be a good team player. In addition to working with the pupil the candidate will need to have skills to work alongside parents and carers and external agencies involved with the pupil.

Candidates will need a minimum of GCSE in English and Maths. Experience or training with children with special educational needs is essential, as would a knowledge and understanding of Autism and ADHD. It would be advantageous to have training for supporting pupils with SEN needs in addition to a Learning Support Assistant qualification.

Candidates need to be willing to take part in continual improvement throughout the school and be able to use their initiative.

Contracted Hours would be: 32.5 HOURS A WEEK, 38 WEEKS A YEAR
