Learning Support Assistant job summary

Sharlston Community School is an averaged sized, friendly and welcoming primary school. The Governors, staff and children of the school are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our educational support team. The role will also include providing support to pupils in key stage one and two, as required – including whole class support and leading small groups. Knowledge and/or experience of working with pupils on the autistic spectrum would be beneficial.

Is able to support pupils through personalised timetables

Can work under the direction of the teacher to implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils to make progress

Understands EHC Plans and Learner Profiles, and can assist in formulating and implementing such plans

Can confidently assess pupils progress and identify next steps in learning using Wakefield Progression Steps

Establishes constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations

Genuinely cares about children and improving their life chances through positive school experiences
