Learning Support Assistant job summary

St Nicholas School is an Academy Special School, situated in Southend-on-Sea, which is part of the SEN Trust Southend. The school offers a quality, inclusive education for secondary aged students (11-16). Our students all have a range of learning needs and enter the school with a statement of Educational Needs, or an Educational Health & Care Plan.

It is our aim to encourage every student to achieve their full potential, to become an independent adult and an active member of their local community, relative to their ability.

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join our friendly and hardworking team. We are looking for staff to join us as soon as possible but also for the start of our transition work in June for our new years 5/6 provision.

Job title: Learning Support Assistant

Salary Range: Level 5, Points 8 - 12

Hours per week: 31 hours per week *

Working Times: Mondays: 8.45am - 4.05pm, Tuesdays to Fridays: 8.45am - 3.05pm

Contract Type: Part time,: 39 wks/yr plus holiday entitlement( £19,654-£20,953p.a)

*We would be open to consider part-time applications for the right candidates.

The successful candidates will need to be flexible and be prepared to assist pupils on an individual basis as well as in small groups or a classroom environment. A good level of English, Maths and ICT skills is essential.

Experience of supporting pupils with complex needs

The ability to work well within a team and independently
