Learning Support Assistant job summary
This is a Fixed Term Contract for 1 year.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is committed to nurturing the whole child to ensure that every pupil receives the tailored support they need to achieve their full academic and social potential.
We are seeking a candidate who brings either a strong foundation of subject knowledge or a genuine passion for Maths, English, Science, and Humanities. Your enthusiasm for these core areas will be key in helping our students unlock the curriculum, as you find creative ways to bring these subjects to life for learners with varying barriers to learning.
While you will mainly be deployed within a specific curriculum area to utilise your expertise, we are looking for a professional who thrives on variety and possesses the flexibility to adapt across the school as required. You will be someone who enjoys the balance of being a subject specialist while remaining ready to step in wherever your support will have the greatest impact on our pupils' day.
The Sele School is a rapidly growing secondary school. Our ethos Non Ducor Duco: I am not led, I lead - is a lived experience in our community. The learning climate is impeccable and the culture of driving up standards is upheld by all who attend The Sele School.
The Successful Candidate will:
- Prioritise Connection: You understand that "connection before correction" is the foundation of success, bringing a natural ability to build warm, positive relationships that help our pupils feel safe and ready to learn.
- Be a Team Player: You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working as part of an expanding team. You are happy to take direction and move fluidly to wherever the school or our pupils need you most, always putting their needs at the heart of your day.
- Combine Subject & SEND Knowledge: You bring a strong toolkit of subject knowledge and SEND understanding. This expertise allows you to break down barriers to learning, providing the informed support and "scaffolding" pupils need to master new skills.
- Show Initiative: You have the confidence to work independently and the "thinking on your feet" skills required to adapt in the moment, ensuring support remains effective even when situations change.
- Communicate with Purpose: You possess excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and pupils at all levels.
- Bring Positivity: You approach challenges with a resilient "can-do" attitude and a good sense of humour that inspires those around you.
- Promote The Sele School’s ethos and values.
What can we offer you?
