What skills and experience we're looking for
The Headteacher and Governors are looking to appoint an exceptional and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support the complex teaching and learning needs of 2 KS1 children. These children require a high level of support for communication and language as well as cognition and learning. You will need to be adaptable and be able to amend lesson plans / prepare resources which will enable the children to succeed at all levels. As well as supporting the children in class and at lunch-time, you will also be delivering one-to-one and small group interventions that will enable the children to fulfil their full potential, as directed by the class teacher.
The right candidate will need to be positive, calm, motivational, flexible and creative. You must be able to demonstrate that you are trustworthy and ethical, that you have a supportive nature, as well as being assertive, confident, and resourceful. You will also need to be patient and sensitive and able to comfort children when and where necessary.
You will be working in a KS1 class where learning is always fun and engaging and excellent relationships exist between staff and pupils. Applicants will need show a commitment to the inclusive nature of the school, a caring attitude to all pupils and also have high expectations for behaviour, whilst promoting fair and inclusive practises.
Applicants should possess a high standard of spoken and written English and have GCSE English and Maths (A-C grades or equivalent). Previous experience of running interventions or knowledge of Special Educational Needs pupils would be an advantage.
