What the role involves in a nutshell:

  • Work under the direction, guidance, and supervision of the SENCO and classroom teacher to support access to learning for students
  • Take responsibility for delivering specific learning activities and interventions, helping to implement individual learning plans in line with the overall teaching strategy.
  • Deliver targeted interventions, both within the classroom and in small group or 1:1 settings outside the classroom environment.
  • Use your specialist knowledge in SEMH to support pupils’ emotional and behavioural development, helping them to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Deliver SEMH-related training and guidance to the wider learning support team to promote and support our students emotional wellbeing
