Learning Support (Level 3) job summary

‘Learning for Life’ defines the ethos and values of High Park as a school for pupils with Communication and Interaction difficulties. We have a unique place in the education system in Bradford and in providing a resource for pupils aged 3 - 19 who need our structures and approaches to learning. In 2024, we were honoured with the Platinum Bradford Healthy Minds Chartermark Award, making us the first special setting to be recognised as a Beacon School in mental health and demonstrates our commitment to mental health and well-being in the school community.
We are part of Carlton Academy Trust (CAT) which was established in 2019 from the outstanding success of Carlton Bolling, an inner-city Bradford secondary school. Today, we proudly oversee three secondary schools, three primary schools, and three special schools, collectively educating nearly 5000 students, and employing almost 1,000 members of staff. All CAT schools are rated either Outstanding or Good by Ofsted.

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our warm, forward-thinking team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with autism and related communication differences, helping them to thrive both in their learning and personal development.

You will play a vital role in supporting pupils to access learning, fostering independence, and helping each young person achieve their very best.
As a Level 3 Learning Support, you will:
- Work closely with teachers to deliver creative and engaging learning experiences tailored to pupils’ individual needs.
- Provide skilled support for pupils with autism and communication differences, promoting inclusion and understanding across the school community.
- Lead small groups and, when required, whole classes, following teacher planning to deliver high-quality learning experiences.
- Support pupils in developing communication, social interaction, and self-regulation skills.
- Contribute to planning, assessment and record-keeping, ensuring that progress is carefully monitored and celebrated.
- Supervise and support colleagues, trainees and volunteers as part of a collaborative staff team.
- Always promote and safeguard the welfare of all pupils.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience of working with children and young people with autism and/or communication needs.
- Demonstrates warmth, patience, resilience and a strong commitment to inclusive education.
- Has the confidence to lead learning activities and support teaching across a range of settings.
- Values teamwork, professional growth and reflective practice.
- Understands the importance of promoting independence, dignity and self-esteem in every pupil.
