Learning Support Practitioner job summary

Ormiston Horizon Academy is looking for an enthusiastic, engaging individual to join us in the role of Learning Support Practitioner.

Our Learning Support Practitioners enable inclusion and support independent learning by working with individuals or small groups of pupils, allowing them to continue to access main stream education. In addition, they provide support to teachers in the preparation of teaching and learning materials. Previous experience is not required, though would be advantageous.

This role is offered working for 32.5 hours per week, term time plus 5 development days (39 working weeks). We will consider part time requests, please indicate in your application your preferred hours.

What we're looking for:

You will have a genuine passion and belief in the potential of every pupil and be able to relate to young people and adults within the learning environment. You will be versatile, resilient and able to adapt your practice wherever necessary to support across all key stages. The successful candidate will also contribute towards the provision of care, guidance and support for our students.

  • A team player who is enthusiastic and versatile.
  • With the ability to build rapport and relationships with students (aged 11-16).
  • The ability to problem solve, interpret information or situations and make good decisions.
  • An NVQ level 2 or equivalent education or experience.
  • IT and Keyboard skills.
  • The ability to understand and comply with the academies policies and procedures, particularly in relation to health and safety and child protection.
