What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant. This role primarily involves providing English and Maths support for a pupil or pupils in a variety of situations including within the classroom, on a one-to-one basis and leading small groups. The successful candidate will work well within a team under the direction of the Class Teacher and SENDCo, whilst also acting on their own initiative to adapt resources and activities to ensure that the learning is accessible. They will bring a warm, positive and encouraging approach to help pupils to thrive academically and build resilience and independence.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to meet pupils’ individual learning needs
  • Encourage confidence, independence and resilience through positive reinforcement and a relational approach
  • Work closely with the Class Teacher and SENDCo to implement strategies and interventions
  • Support pupils’ social and emotional development
  • Adapt resources and activities to ensure accessibility and engagement
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to reviews and planning meetings
  • Supervise and support positive interactions in the playground through a relational approach, and following our school’s behaviour policy
  • Delivering first aid and recording this appropriately
  • Liaising with staff members across the school as required
  • Recording safeguarding incidents or concerns in line with school policies

The successful applicant will have:

    • Permission to work in the UK
    • GCSE grade C/4 or above in maths and English (or equivalent)
    • Previous experience in working with children
    • Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills
    • Ability to adapt learning materials to suit individual needs
    • Commitment to promoting inclusion and pupil wellbeing
    • Supportive of our schools’ Christian ethos and values
