Ludham Primary School and Nursery sits in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, surrounded by a beautiful natural environment and with extensive outdoor learning spaces, including a well-established Forest School provision for children aged 2–11.

We are seeking to appoint a committed, energetic and emotionally intelligent Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant to strengthen our inclusive provision across the school. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with SEND, while also helping more able learners to be stretched, inspired and challenged.

This is a temporary role for three terms initially, with the possibility of becoming permanent from April 2027. The role may be offered as full-time or job share depending on applicants.

This is a dynamic, varied role where no two days are the same. You will support a wide range of children to access learning, develop independence and thrive socially and emotionally. At times, the role may be demanding and unpredictable - but it is always meaningful and deeply rewarding.

You will work flexibly across the school, contributing to high-quality provision, including outdoor learning, and supporting teachers to meet the needs of all pupils - from those requiring targeted SEND support to those ready for greater depth and challenge.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is flexible, adaptable and quick-thinking.
  • Brings energy, presence and genuine care to their work.
  • Believes passionately that education transforms lives.
  • Understands that strong relationships underpin all successful learning.
  • Can support children with a wide range of needs, including SEND, with consistency, empathy and high expectations.
  • Is confident contributing to learning that stretches and challenges more able pupils.
  • Works effectively as part of a team and communicates professionally.
  • Remains calm, solution-focused and positive, even on challenging days.
  • Contributes to the wider life of the school community.

Essential:

  • Experience working with children.
  • A positive, proactive and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping all children succeed.
  • GCSEs Grades C (or 5 and above) for English Language, Maths and Science.
  • Commitment to further professional development.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with a range of SEND needs.
  • Knowledge of the Thrive Approach, ELSA or similar.
  • Forest School qualifications (up to Level 3) are a real plus, reflecting our commitment to outdoor learning.
  • Experience of delivering a high-quality systematic synthetic phonics programme, especially Read Write Inc, is highly valued.
  • Experience supporting or stretching more able learners.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development in SEND and inclusion.
  • You will need patience, resilience and emotional intelligence, alongside the ability to maintain high expectations for every child - encouraging independence, responsibility and a love of learning.
  • As a small, community primary school, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Building trust with children, families and colleagues is central to this role.

In return, we offer:

  • A supportive, forward-thinking leadership team.
  • A warm, inclusive school with a strong moral purpose.
  • Excellent CPD and training opportunities, particularly in SEND and outdoor learning.
  • Outstanding outdoor learning and Forest School provision.
  • A hardworking, dedicated and friendly staff team.
  • Wonderful children who make every day worthwhile.

This role is ideal for someone who wants more than just a job - someone who believes in inclusive education, values the power of the outdoors, and is committed to helping every child flourish.

Visits to school are warmly encouraged.  Please contact Mrs Russell (School Administrator) - office@ludham.norfolk.sch.uk
