Level 1 Casual Teaching Assistant job summary
Due to our continuing growth, we are looking to add to our bank of casual/supply Teaching Assistants to cover short-term absence and training. We are excited to welcome on board like-minded individuals who have a passion for ensuring our SEN pupils thrive in an education setting.
These positions do not have regular guaranteed hours and work can be requested/offered to fit in with other commitments. It would be helpful if applicants were able and willing to work at any of our sites but we accept that this may not always be possible. A candidate’s inability to work at all sites will not be a barrier to consideration for the post.
The role is classed as a Teaching Assistant SEN Level 1, which is paid at Grade D, point 3 of the NCC pay structure.
Please note that acceptance as a supply Teaching Assistant will not automatically render you suitable for contracted work and, should a vacancy arise within the school, you will be required to follow the application procedure for that post. However, you will be provided with an opportunity to gain relevant experience that will support any application for a post within a school environment.
Ideally, the successful candidates will have:
- Good English and Maths skills (preferably GCSE) or its equivalent
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of and a commitment to supporting pupils with various Special Educational Needs
Rowan Gate is committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of the pupils in its care and all applicants should hold or be willing to undergo a DBS Enhanced Disclosure. Appointments will also be subject to a satisfactory medical assessment and 2 satisfactory references from previous employers, among other checks. In addition, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, we are also required to carry out online searches for all successfully shortlisted candidates.
