Level 1 Teaching Assistant job summary

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School is looking to appoint a Level 1 Teaching Assistant to support children with SEN needs. This post is temporary based on SEN funding. As a Level 1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support in the classroom, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment for all pupils. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic, caring, and eager to begin or continue a career in education.

The candidate should be able to develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils and have an in-depth knowledge of working with children with special needs

Working under the direct supervision of the class teacher, you will assist with day-to-day classroom activities, support pupils with their learning, and help maintain a safe and orderly environment. Your duties may include preparing resources, supporting individual or small group work, and encouraging pupils to stay focused and confident in their learning.

You’ll also play a valuable role in promoting good behaviour, helping with classroom routines, and supporting the social and emotional development of pupils. Strong communication skills, patience, and a willingness to learn are key to success in this role.
