Job Title: Teaching Assistant Level 2

Actual Annual Salary: £16,196 - £17,460 (Based on hours and week worked)

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £28,859 - £31,111 (CLF Grade C) Based on full time hours, all year round.

Contract Type: Fixed term until 31/08/2026.

Hours: 24.25 hours per week - Part Time, Term Time Only plus Inset days 

Additional Information: This role follows a weekly working pattern of 24.25 hours (spread across Monday to Friday), but we can offer flexibility on certain days within this structure, which can be discussed at interview.

We are looking for a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join Queen Margaret Academy on a fixed‑term contract until 31 August 2026, where you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by empowering students to reach their full potential through tailored, high‑quality support that enhances learning, engagement, confidence, and well‑being.

You will support students across the classroom by applying effective strategies to help them access learning, remain focused, and make progress. Working under the guidance of the class teacher, you will deliver planned learning activities and targeted interventions, adapting your approach to meet the needs, responses, and abilities of individual students. Your contribution will support academic progress, social and emotional development, growing independence, and positive behaviour across the school.

You will work collaboratively with teachers, leaders, and other professionals to monitor progress, share insights, and ensure support is responsive and effective. This includes contributing to assessment, maintaining accurate records, and communicating professionally with colleagues and parents/carers.

  • Understands classroom roles and responsibilities, and how a Level 2 Teaching Assistant supports learning, behaviour, and inclusion.
  • Holds or is working towards a relevant qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent), and is willing to complete further training including safeguarding, first aid, and SEND‑related development.
  • Has GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
  • Is confident supporting students on a one‑to‑one or small‑group basis using effective strategies to promote focus and positive behaviour.
  • Has strong interpersonal skills, including empathy, active listening, and effective communication with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Can prepare, organise, and deliver learning activities and support materials tailored to student needs.
  • Can work independently under the guidance of the class teacher, delivering interventions and activities where required.
  • Remains calm under pressure, makes sound decisions, and contributes to a safe, positive learning environment.
  • Is flexible, reliable, and adaptable to changing needs within the school.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
