Broadmeadow Special School is rated as Good by OFSTED and is currently situated close to the centre of Wolverhampton. We are a 75 place setting seeking an energetic, motivated and nurturing teaching assistant to join our vibrant and progressive school. Broadmeadow Special School is a school for children with severe and complex learning difficulties aged from 3 to 11.
We benefit from being part of the Central Learning Partnership Trust and work collaboratively with both special and mainstream colleagues to deliver the best possible opportunities for our children. In this role we are looking for someone who can work well as part of a team and has a child centred approach. Knowledge and experience of SEN is desirable but not essential as a full package of induction and continuing professional development will be provided.
Key Purpose of the Post:
Teaching assistants are employed to ensure that every child has exceptional opportunities for learning, in particular:
Supervise and provide particular support for pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
Assist with the development and implementation of individual education / Behaviour Plans and Personal Care / eating programmes.
Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual need, providing comfort and care at appropriate times.
To receive and return pupils school transport in accordance with school policy and procedures.
Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teaching team.
Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence.
Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teaching team.
