Green Lane Church of England Primary is a rural school in the heart of Teesdale and at the centre of our local community. The Academy Council of Green Lane Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to start in September 2025.


We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to inspire and support pupils within our school. The successful candidate will be compassionate and caring and will play a vital role in providing inclusive support to pupils with a range of learning needs, ensuring all children have equal access to education and opportunities for success.

Key Responsibilities:

Building positive relationships with class teachers to implement individualized learning plans for pupils with all levels of needs and abilities

Provide one to one and small group interventions to help pupils, particularly those with special educational needs, overcome learning barriers and achieve academic progress

Assist in the creation and adaptation of learning materials to suit pupil’s individual needs in readiness for lessons

Undertake break and lunch supervision as required

Have a hands on approach to supporting pupils in their learning, with a willingness to interact, engage and form positive rapport with pupils

Foster a supportive and inclusive environment throughout school where all pupils feel valued and respected

Our ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience of working in a similar role within a Primary Education setting (desirable but not essential)

A recognised qualification to support teaching and learning

A passion for working with children and a commitment to promoting well-being and academic development ensuring every pupil is supported to fulfil their potential and flourish in education

Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to form strong and supportive relationships with children

Demonstrate patience, empathy and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges

A resilient, proactive and positive nature

High levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with pupils

Have the ability to create and maintain a safe and supportive sports environment

Relevant qualifications or training within education, childcare or working with additional needs.

Experience of supporting children with complex needs, including those with special educational needs
