Monday-Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm including a 1 hour break.

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work within our Alternative Provision (AP) room, supporting a small group of children with complex needs. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join a committed and supportive team who are passionate about providing the very best outcomes for our children.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and regulate their emotions within a nurturing and structured environment.

We are looking for someone who is patient, adaptable and proactive, with a strong understanding of how to support children with complex needs. Experience of working with children with additional and/or complex needs is essential.

The ideal candidate

  • Holds a good educational background with GCSE or equivalent in English Language.
  • Understands how children learn.
  • Is skilled at developing children’s self-esteem and motivation so that they become resilient, independent learners.
  • Has excellent communication skills and is able to develop and sustain positive relationships with pupils.

Orton Wistow Primary School is larger than most primary schools. We have 2 classes of 30 children in each year group, giving us a total of 420 children.

Since the school was built in 1988 to accommodate 200 pupils, we have had 2 ambitious building projects to accommodate the increase in our numbers. As a result of these changes we now have a stunning schools with wonderful indoor and outdoor facilities.

Orton Wistow is a popular, over subscribed school and benefits from a consistent roll despite the fact that we have a relatively small catchment area.
