We are looking for someone who is:

  • A skilled and committed team player who can work closely with colleagues to support excellent outcomes for children

  • Excellent at building positive and caring relationships with children

  • Able to respond positively to the needs of all learners, including those with SEND

  • Confident liaising with teachers to plan activities to support pupils’ learning, and providing constructive feedback on their progress

  • Able to ensure learning is motivating and matched to the needs of the learner

  • Able to secure positive social and emotional learning opportunities

  • Keen to engage in further professional development to improve provision for children

Successful candidates who are qualified to Level 3 may also supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers, when the primary focus will be to maintain good order and to keep pupils on task.

The governors of Gleadless Primary School are seeking to appoint an ambitious and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support children with their learning. This is a maternity cover post on a temporary basis, working two days per week. The post-holder will have experience of working with children across the key stages, including those with additional needs and vulnerabilities.

Gleadless Primary School is a two-form entry school with approximately 400 pupils on roll, situated to the south east of the city. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to work as part of a friendly and supportive staff team. Our children love to learn and enjoy school and we build strong relationships with our families and community. On 1st February 2024, Gleadless became a part of Sheffield South East Trust (SSET). SSET unites six other local schools (Manor Lodge Primary, Wybourn Primary, Norfolk Primary, Phillimore Primary, Woodhouse West Primary and Acres Hill Primary). These schools work closely together for the benefit of the children and communities they serve. There are many opportunities for support, training and networking between the schools. The Trust aims for schools to grow and flourish, by being individual and closely aligned with their community, whilst having strong capacity with other similar local schools.
