Salary: Ark Outside London Support Scale 6, Pay Points 8-19: £24,702 to £29,777 (pro rata)
Actual Salary: £21,792.68 - £26,269.96
Hours: 36 hours per week, 40 weeks per year (Term Time Only + 1 week to be worked in school holidays)

We are seeking to appoint a Librarian who will promote and develop the academy libraries in order to provide an efficient service to students and staff. You will work with the Reading Lead and existing Librarian to implement the Academy’s Reading Policy and support students who need the most support with reading by providing high-quality, targeted interventions.
Our libraries place reading at the heart of the school and supports learning across the curriculum and we also celebrate national activities such as world book day and poetry day.
Our standards are high, and we need someone who can be a team player and flexible when supporting other colleagues with the ability to be resilient, calm and professional under pressure.

We’re looking for an individual who:
- Has experience of working with and motivating young people to engage with reading
- Has experience of working in a library within an educational institution or similar (desirable)
- Is able to communicate effectively with young people of all abilities
- Cares about students, their learning, and their futures
- Can manage behaviour effectively to create a safe, respectful and nurturing environment so that students can focus on learning
- Has experience or the ability to implement Reading interventions across the school, including Fresh Start, Lexia and 1:1 reading with students who are below their chronological reading age

Ark Alexandra is a large secondary academy with a Sixth Form provision in Hastings, East Sussex and is the largest secondary in the successful Ark network. A popular school that is heavily over-subscribed, we have grown to have over 1,600 students this year.
