Literacy Intervention Lead job summary
Main Purpose of the Role:
Lead the development and implementation of a whole school literacy strategy
Identify and baseline pupils’ literacy levels, including on induction to the school
Plan and deliver effective literacy interventions for pupils requiring additional support
Support staff in embedding literacy across the curriculum
Monitor and evaluate the impact of literacy initiatives
Raise the profile of literacy across the school
Key Responsibilities:
Assess and baseline literacy levels for all pupils, particularly during induction
Design, coordinate and deliver targeted literacy interventions to improve pupil outcomes
Develop, implement, and review a whole-school literacy strategy in collaboration with the senior leadership team
Support colleagues to integrate literacy in their subject areas through coaching, CPD and resource development
Track and report on progress in literacy, using data to inform practice and next steps
Liaise with external agencies and professionals as required to support pupil literacy development
Champion a reading culture across the school, including library use and reading initiatives
Contribute to whole school monitoring, evaluation and reporting in relation to literacy
Plan and deliver bespoke intervention sessions tailored to learners individual needs
Lead on 1:1 and small group sessions with a keen focus on developing Literacy and Numeracy skills
Liaise with department leads to support Literacy developments and adaptive learning techniques that allow the curriculum to be accessible for all students
Prepare classroom space to deliver high quality intervention
Communicate with professionals such as the SENCO, Assistant SENCO and Educational Psychologist to ensure informed decision making takes place for intervention
Analyse Education, Health and Care plans and act upon the required recommendations.to ensure young people’s educational outcomes are achieved
Work with any external funders and provide reports where appropriate
Work with the SLT to identify and develop other staff to be able to deliver literacy interventions
